Viewfinder 1.1 released

Viewfinder 1.1 continues the tradition of providing auto-focus and auto-exposure on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 devices. The imaging engine was completely rewritten to take advantage of iOS 4.0. It is faster, smoother, and you'll feel more presence while composing your shots.

Apple kept the same 3.85mm optics for the iPhone 4, but the increased megapixel count results in increased wide angle capability. While with 3GS one could simulate optics as wide as around 35mm (in full frame 35mm terms), iPhone 4 can go down to about 28mm. Which translates less need for a wide angle adapter, or with a WA adapter Viewfinder gets ultra wide angle simulation capabilities. Support is experimental right now, so feedback would be appreciated.

This release adds support for the following cameras and camera systems:

  • Sigma SD15, Sony A290, Sony A390, Sony NEX-3, Sony NEX-5
  • Mamiya RZ33, Contax 645 system, ALPA 12 series cameras and lenses (Pro edition only).

Memory consumption is also reduced in some situations. A bug where the "Needs wide adapter" warnings on the lens list used 3GS camera sensor parameters even on a 3G was fixed.
